The new Lecco Fire Station is conceived as a low, permeable, monomaterial building that blends into the surrounding landscape through the use of natural tones, while subtle red accents recall the identity of the National Fire Corps. Its C-shaped plan combines symbolic and functional value: it embraces a central courtyard open toward the lake, evoking protective arms while ensuring efficient circulation and clear operational organization.

The internal layout prioritizes flexibility and fluid movement, with open-plan offices, adaptable workspaces, and shared areas that also serve as circulation spaces, reducing the need for conventional corridors. Outdoor spaces are equally central to the project, with the public square acting as the main gathering place and the surrounding landscape supporting training and recreational activities in close contact with nature.

The project integrates passive and active sustainability strategies. Careful solar orientation and the use of porticoes provide effective shading to south-facing spaces, reducing summer heat gains while maximizing natural daylight and passive energy performance. These measures are complemented by renewable energy systems to achieve high overall environmental efficiency.
